Tractor Tire Award of the Week - 21 Jump Street

Have you ever watched a trailer and had that one scene, that one shot that made you go "Wow, that was cool!"? Or maybe there was something you saw that stuck with you, something that for some reason was in the back of your head and despite how insignificant it was you were waiting for it to show up in the final cut of the film. But when you watched the movie that scene was nowhere to be found or has been altered in a significant way. Well, that is what the Tractor Tire Award of the Week is all about. We try to track down those scenes that didn't make it into the final version of the film and make sense of them. Where in the film was it supposed to be? Why might it have been cut? Why has it been changed? We may not always have the answers for you but at least you will have your piece of mind and know that you aren't crazy. So, this weeks award goes to 21 Jump Street!

Cut Scene #1-A
No titty twister in the movie unfortunately.

Cut Scene #1-B
Nope, no twister whatsoever...

The opening of the film shows both Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum in their actual High School years just like it shows in the trailer, however they really never have any sort of contact beyond one line of dialog with Tatum berating Hill's attempt to ask a girl out to prom. In the trailer though we see Tatum take a much more active approach to making Hill's life a complete hell by running up to him, tackling him and then performing a titty twister which he actually verbalizes as he does it. While it is very easy to see where this scene was supposed to take place I think it was a wise choice to remove it since we already get a clear idea with how they see one another. Chalk this one up to a useful scene to get a point across in the trailer but completely unnecessary for the finished film. This was a good cut in my opinion.

Alternate Scene #1
Is it 37 or 21 Jump Street?

Now this one is funny. It isn't too often a trailer will go out of its way to keep a joke a secret but I gotta hand it to the people who came up with this one. When I saw the film and this scene played, where the Captain is going over the miranda rights, and he is leading up to the reveal of where their next assignment will be. It was kind of brilliant that the trailer has him say it correctly and in the actual film he screws up the address. As funny as it is in the film all on its own, the joke works even better for anyone that remembers the trailer. Good stuff, I applaud the trailer makers for this one. Keep up the good work boys.
